Need help with a riddle...

My employer asked each of us this morning what our year of birth was. We gave them to him and about ten minutes later he gave us each a silver quarter, mine was a 1954. He also stuck a note to the bag that read as follows:
"ohdo
wbcmf
bgtm"
Now he just gave me more letters:
"ottdo
wbcmf
bgtm
assq"

Apparently I am required to figure this game out. I need help please. I am a goldsmith if that has anything to do with this... I just don't know what this is.
