Need help. Verb correction.

Hi teachers,

Why it is correct to say 'They do jogging.' and not 'They do riding' in terms of expressing a psysical activity.

Is it better to say, 'They go jogging' or 'They go riding'?

Thanks in advance

Hi Clive,

Thanks a lot for you answer. So, then I can assume that 'You go ---ing, where the -ing word represents an activity, usually a pleasant amusement involving light exercise'. For example, 'He goes swimming every Monday'.

Someone told me this rule and I guess it is compltely right.

Hi,

You haven't included my point about actually going from one place to another.

Hi Clive,

So sorry. Could you give me a couple of examples please?

Hi,

Yes, that's fine.

But if you jog at home on a treadmill in your house, I wouldn't say 'You go jogging'. I'd say 'You jog' or possibly 'You do jogging'.
