0 Hi Everyone!!! 02br 02br 00I need help in finding the theme/poetic techniques of this poem 02br 02br 02br 02br 00WOODCHUCKS by Maxine Kumin 02br 02br 00Gassing the woodchucks didn't turn out right. 02br 00The knockout bomb from the Feed and Grain Exchange 02br 00was featured as merciful, quick at the bone 02br 00and the case we had against them was airtight, 02br 00both exits shoehorned shut with puddingstone, 02br 00but they had a sub-sub-basement out of range. 02br 02br 00Next morning they turned up again, no worse 02br 00for the cyanide than we for our cigarettes 02br 00and state-store Scotch, all of us up to scratch. 02br 00They brought down the marigolds as a matter of course 02br 00and then took over the vegetable patch 02br 00nipping the broccoli shoots, beheading the carrots. 02br 02br 00The food from our mouths, I said, righteously thrilling 02br 00to the feel of the .22, the bullets' neat noses. 02br 00I, a lapsed pacifist fallen from grace 02br 00puffed with Darwinian pieties for killing, 02br 00now drew a bead on the little woodchuck's face. 02br 00He died down in the everbearing roses. 02br 02br 00Ten minutes later I dropped the mother. She 02br 00flipflopped in the air and fell, her needle teeth 02br 00still hooked in a leaf of early Swiss chard. 02br 00Another baby next. O one-two-three 02br 00the murderer inside me rose up hard, 02br 00the hawkeye killer came on stage forthwith. 02br 02br 00There's one chuck left. Old wily fellow, he keeps 02br 00me cocked and ready day after day after day. 02br 00All night I hunt his humped-up form. I dream 02br 00I sight along the barrel in my sleep. 02br 00If only they'd all consented to die unseen 02br 00gassed underground the quiet Nazi way. 02br 02br 02br 00Thanks 0-
