Need help to confirm the meaning of an expression

Hello,

I'm writing a story and I'd like to know if this expression makes sense. Is it semantically correct to say "what kind of monster am I?" if you feel regret and shame for something bad that you did but you didn't mean to do it?

Thank you,

Jonathan

It is grammatically correct. It means that you finally realize that you are some horrific despicable creature, perhaps a predator and child abuser.
