Need help - PhD - Cover Letter.

At the moment I am applying a phd position which require me to write a cover letter to support my application and express interesting. I would be glad if you could have a look and see how i can improve it.

Dear Prof. XXX:
I am writing to apply for the PhD position in XXX management of large-scale software systems at XYZ in XXX starting in September 2015, My career ambition is to become a software architect in distributed system area.
I am currently undertaking the MSc Computer Science in XXX. I have a strong academic record and my grade point average of 4.04 put me into the very top of my class. During my studies in XXX, I firmly believe distributed and parallel systems will be my future research and career path. In order to gain more vital knowledge, I attended Parallel and Cluster Computing in previous semester and achieved A- grade for this module.
Before I come to XXX, I attended a postgraduate course Networks and Distributed Systems In YYY. During my studies in YYY, I had in depth understanding on distributed systems. My research abilities have been developed over my studies, especially during the time I am in YYY. I participated in a research in medical care media project, and improved my ability to gather and process information from diverse material. But due to health problems I didn’t complete the course.
I completed a undergraduate degree in Computing at ZZZ IT in September 2013 with the second highest overall result of 68.7% in my class, I am proud of my achievement. Moreover, I was selected as a summer researcher to undertake a project at COMPANY1 which is funded by ZZZ IT. Very few students from the school have been selected. By collaborate with my teammates, I developed a mobile application using PhoneGap framework. This experience not only enhanced my technical skills, but also improved my interpersonal skills.
During my studies, I have built a strong foundation in computer science, and became interested in large-scale system especially distributed system where the whole internet built above it. My final year project in ZZZ IT is a prototype of P2P file sharing system build with third party API. During my college time, in order to support my living expense, I’ve done variety of part-time job, By combining a part-time job with my studies, I learned effective time management.
With a strong interesting in computer science, distributed systems and excellent academic background. I believe,I meet the need in this PhD programme.
