0Hi, I have to write a motivation letter to apply to a Master in Anthropology and I am not sure how to do it, being english my second lenguaje and being this my first ever such letter. This is what I have come up with so far, after reading a few of the posts inhere. Any help would be welcomed and appreciated.02br 02br 00Dear Sir02br 02br 02br 02br 00I am writing to apply to the Masters degree on Social and Cultural Anthropology.02br 02br 02br 02br 00I am an italian-chilean citizen currently living in the city of 00, who graduated as a Bachelor in Business Administration and has a title of Business Administration Engineer from the U.A.I. in 010200 in the year 2001. My degree has a strong focus on administration, economy and marketing. I would really like to get in the MA for several reasons. The subjects that they deal with in the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, such as Religion, Development, Conflict Resolution and International Peacekeeping, among others as described in the brochure, are intense actual topics. I am specially interested in one of the specializations offered by the MA, the one regarding the ways and means implemented by different types of communities to deal with today’s complex ever-changing world, and how religion has or hasn’t adapted to it. Coming as I come from a third-world country, is specially important to me to have the proper tools to analyze such subjects and be able to shed some light, and perhaps offer viable solutions to certain situations, and I positively expect the University through its MA to give me those tools and skills.02br 02br 02br 02br 00Like I said before, my educational background mainly concerns business, but my true interests greatly differ from what I studied. As you can see in my CV, I have hardly worked as my profession, and this has been a conscious decision, not an outer imposition. My true interest have always been those concerning Man and his becoming, specially in the fields of psychology, religion and metaphysics, where my education has mostly been self-taught. Different life experiences combined with my readings, have made me come to the conclusion that our main goal as Man is to fulfill those potentialities dormant within each one of us in a way that00 00is harmonic and respectful of our environment, but this is not an easy task, specially in today’s complex society, where age-old certainties seem to be disappearing before our very own eyes and Man seems to be at a loss, not quite knowing what to do with himself. 02br 02br 02br 02br 00I expect to find on this MA the certain tools and skills that will allow me to work on a systemized level on issues concerning Man and its place, I am specially looking forward to being introduced to a holistic integrative epistemology, since the reductionistic approach that has been the official approach in western society for some time now it is obviously overdue, and the gross consequences of it can be seen all around us. Also I am of the personal opinion that Religion holds a most important place in society, being the quest for spiritual meaning inherent to the human condition and that nothing good can come out of any intentions to deny or dismiss such a transcendental sphere of human existence. Consequently, I would very much like to center my work in Anthropology, were I to be accepted, in the true necessity of Religion, exoteric and esoteric, for an integral approach to Mankind. I also look forward to the many working possibilities that would be open for me, specially those of Journalism, Conflict Resolution and working with international organizations. The idea of helping my fellow man on finding their right place on Earth is very meaningful to me, and feels correct, like the right place for me. I am00 00confident of making a significant contribution to the courses, as my background surely differs from most people’s, and as I fancy myself of being a free-thinker full of original ideas.02br 02br 02br 02br 00I would like to thank you for taking my application under consideration and sincerely hope to be working with you in the near future.00 02br 02br 02br 02br 00Yours sincerely02br 02br 02br 02br 00R.0-
