Need help - motivation letter

Hello everybody!

For a project to travel to China I need to write some kind of a motivation letter. My English is not that good (it is on an advanced school niveau) so I would like to ask if someone could correct this typing. I am afraid there could be more or less grammatical or spelling mistakes.

Plans and expectations of participating in the Summer Camp

Months ago we have talked in our Chinese class about our plans for the future. I have written a text about my wishes of having a husband, children, a job but also for traveling around the world. Especially I wish to go to China. One of the reasons I chose to learn Chinese at school was for the dream of traveling to this exciting state. We Europeans do not know that much about our very far eastern neighbours than we should do.

Understanding China is understanding about how our world works today. Since China opened it's gates for the world it influences our every-day-live in a high rate. There could be people arguing that their live is not influenced by China because they don't buy in Asian shops or don't go to Chinese restaurants but as you look in the homes of many Western people you will at least see one article which has three little words on it called “Made in China”. Also many labels, which you think to be European or American, have their production sites in China. This country has influenced our economy in a very high rate. For the short time it had participated in the world's market system it had become an established dimension in there.

But it is not only the fast developing economy, that interests me about China.

Moreover I am very fascinated about their culture. China's history is a very old one. In school I have learned about the chains of emperors which reigned this country for thousands of years. This country exists very longer than many other states of the world. They developed without being influenced by our values so their culture is completely different from ours.

Europeans usually don't eat Scorpions, for example, or use sticks for eating in general. I also was surprised about the whole other way of lettering.

But as I learned more and more about their history, culture and their way of living I got more and more captivated. Now I can write many Chinese Characters (I am proud to understand a little bit of them in newspapers), I have practiced to eat with sticks, I have learned about Chinese landscape, their cities, their philosophers, their ideals and now I am curious to sample this whole new world!

About half a year ago some of my class mates traveled to China due to a project from our school. Unfortunately I could not go with them because I had not enough money.

If I could have the chance to travel to China due to the Summer Camp program I would be very grateful for it is a unique chance for me to enjoy a lifetime experience which I could finance.
