Need help. Instructions.

Hi teachers,

Do I need the bold article 'the' in these instructions? I guess not, but could you tell me for sure?

Attention: the negative verbs are contracted except for the sentence number 2 in the simple present which is not.

I cannot because of number '2' , right? The number makes the sentence definite, that's why I can't use 'the'.

Yes, that's the reason, I guess. There may be some special explanation for numbers, though.
