Need help in writing a personal statement for an exchange student program

Hi all,I am trying to apply for a student exchange program.I need to write a personal statement – why I want to participate in it.Here is what I wrote so far (it has to be 1 page max). I hope to find here suggestions for improving it, and corrections if needed.Thanks!!

you need to make it more personal.

include the reaosns why you have the passion to study overseas, why you chose the country, and why you want to study your subject in that country

for example:

The reason I chose the UK as the country I want to study in is that I have always admired its long-established traditions not only in education but also in politics, religion, sport, etc.

or...

The decision of choosing marketing as my major was inspired by my parents. My mother is the one who influence me most in my life. I witnessed the foundation of her company and its development

giving them a descriptive insight into your life will give you a better chance.
