Need help in listening: "Who was reduced to ..... part."

Hi

Could you please listen to this one-minute clip and help me with the blanks? I'm not sure if I have understood the yellow parts correctly.

Raveena Tandon who is miffed at her item song “Chandegar de kuree” being cut from “Budha Hoga Tera Baap” can sympathize with veteran deva, Hema Malini, who was reduced to __________________part. But unlike Ravina, Ms. Malini did not hold back from extracting her pound of flesh. At a recent press con for the set film, Ms. Malini in her true “karam-basanti” style turned to Mr. B and asked him what even the most veteran journal shudders to ask him – that is: why don’t you work with Rekha? Big B, of course, _________________________ excused.

Thanks,

Tom

Dear Tom, I believe the clip says the following: "Raveena Tandon who is miffed at her item song “Chandegar de kuree” being cut from “Budha Hoga Tera Baap” can sympathize with veteran diva , Hema Malini, who was reduced to a now weep, now frown part . But unlike Ravina, Ms. Malini did not hold back from extracting her pound of flesh.

Thanks, John! I really appreciate the effort.

I need some light on these two sentences, especially the yellow one.

Hema Malini was reduced to a now weep, now frown part.

Big B sought recourse in the lack of rights for excuse.

Thanks again,

Tom

Hi Tom

Hema Malini was reduced to a now weep, now frown part. This means that this actress had her part reduced to a level so low that she was seen on screen either weeping of frowning - perhaps nothing more (maybe not even speaking!).

Big B sought recourse in the lack of rights for excuse. This means that
