Need help ... ibt speaking response?

Here is my TOEFL response. Can anyone here show my my mistake or make some suggestions for a better expression in my response ?Thanks in advance.

In the listening passage the professor is explaining the reason why giant clams are sometimes be called "man-eating" clams.
According to him , the clam lives in the water and it has a 2-part shell that can open very wide .
When a underwater diver is swimming near the clam ,part of his body may touch the clam's shell or even enter into it.
This could happen because the diver is too interested in examining the clam and get too close , or he wants to find a pearl in the clam's shell.
When the clam senses that something is getting too close, it has a feeling of danger.
Thus the clam closes its shell as a defensive response. sometimes the shell may snap shut on the arm or leg of the diver. That's why some giant clams got the name "man-eating" clams even though they didn't actually eat the person it caught.

Hello, Your response expresses the content of the passage well, but needs a little improvement: According to the speaker, the clam lives in the ocean and has a two-part shell that it can open very wide. When an undersea diver swims near the clam, a part of his body may touch the clam's shell or even enter into it. This could happen because the diver is so interested in examining the clam or in looking for a pearl inside its shell that he gets too close.
