need help - homework

Sorry for molesting you but i need some help with my english-homework.

A little explanation: I´m from germany and our homework was to create a report. To do this we´ve got some keynotes from an english journalist who was in the Iraq-War in 2003. And with this keynotes we should form a report.

If this is the wrong area I´m very sorry but nevertheless I hope you would help me.

Here is the text:

The whole country seems to burn, while I approached the small town Aziziya at 5 p.m. .

Aziziyas position was revealed by pillars of thick, grey smoke which look like tornadoes.

At 6 p.m. the sun had just set and I was rushing through Aziziya in a convoy of US marines.

Unnatural fires light up the town, which flickered in the hearts of burning trucks and tanks.

In the near-darkness I just could just see the ugliness of a quick, nasty battle, which was fought here. To my right was a scorched row of shops and to my left a burning truck in front of a restaurant.

At 6.45 p.m. our column was grinding to a halt, because the marine thought he has spotted enemy troops.

At 7 p.m. it turned out to be a false alert. There were only two goatherds taking there goats home. So we set off again.

The town was dark, but the civilian traffic, with there headlights on were moving through the streets.

An ambulance with flashing lights was trying to get through the US checkpoint.

The night was hot and still and frogs were croaking at 7.30 p.m. .

Beyond the town more fires were reflected in pools in date groves.

But then we saw an Iraqi tank which still appeared to be moving.

Our lead tank was firing at hit an hit it, so that the tank crashed into ditch.

Hi Utzag, Welcome to the forum. I assume the text you gave us is the source material from which you have to write a report. The best thing is if you try to write it yourself, and then post it so that we can help you with it.

Not bad at all, Utzag. I'll offer a few changes for your consideration. Other commentators may have different and better suggestions.
