need help for surname pronunciation

Hey guys, how to pronounce this surname "Foschini"?

By the way, I've read a few posts and still not familiar with the way how the pronunciation is described here, i.e., x x-X X X-x x. Where can I find some introductions about it? And, is this the major way to express a pronuciation among native speakers? In English classes we use the so-called "international phonetic symbols", do you use them?

I'll be very much thankful if you can offer any help.

Your guess is as good as any when it comes to surnames. It looks Italian, so I would go with Fo-shee-nee. The above example is my best attempt at making the letters look as they are supposed to be pronounced, if you know where I can learn the "international phonetic symbols" I would be happy to use those.

  • English pronounciation guides (in dictionaries) use marks that aren't easily reproduced on the computer, otherwise I would use them.
  • Besides, it would be fun to put schwas everywhere.

Hello there,

hope it isn't too late. I'm italian, so let me tell you that "ch" in italian sounds like "k" and therefore you should pronounce it "Foskini" (like "bikini" the accent is on the penultimate "i".

Ciao!

Dwyer... the d & w are pronounced together quickly, like "doo-wuh", and the "wyer" ryhmes with "tire", "liar", etc.

so "doo-why-er". Dwyer.
