Need help for a general motivation letter

Dear Moderator,
I came across this site and found very useful. I have tried to write a general motivation letter to pursue carrier in the field of research and devlopment. I would be highly grateful if can get your valuable comments.
thanks

I completed high school from Saraswati Higher Secondary School, Jabalpur (M.P.), India. After passing Pre Engineering Test (PET), I entered Government Engineering College, Jabalpur in 1993. As a part of Bachelor degree requirement, I worked in a team of 5 students on project entitled “Application of natural energies for better living systems”. The Projects main objectives were to evaluate the possible applications of natural energies during construction phase of a building. I successfully completed Bachelor of Engineering degree in civil engineering (major: air pollution) with first class in 1997.

To practice my analytical skills gained through Bachelor of Engineering, and to get professional experience, I worked as an environmental engineer with “Aakriti consultancy”, Gwalior (India) for the duration of 1 year (1997 – 1998). I worked in the structural design team of 8 engineers. My responsibilities were to take part in the design of small scale water treatment plants and also included onsite supervision of construction work. This one year experience helped me to develop professionally and provided confidence and ability to work as a team member and also managing works independently.

As the field of research and development is a dynamic and rapidly growing area. From the real beginning, I was interested in pursuing my carrier in the research field of environmental engineering. In 1998, I passed national Graduate Aptitude Engineering Test (GATE) and entered in ‘Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), New Delhi, India, to pursue Master of Science in environmental engineering. As a part of M.S. (R ) degree I worked on a one year research project under expert guidance of Prof. Mukesh Khare. The project was titled as “Evaluation of indoor air quality in a centrally air conditioned airport authority building in Delhi city”. This project was awarded the ‘Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) national award’ for the best thesis. Published work from research project has been cited in reference list of Central Pollution Control Board, India. I passed the M.S. (R) program in environmental engineering in 2000 with C.G.P.A. of 9.688 at the scale of 10. This 2 years experience was proved to be stepping stone towards fulfillment of my research and carrier goals. I evolved myself as an experimentator, strenghtened me for onsite problem solving, and also had an opportunity to enrich my personal and communication skills.

Following M.S. (R) degree, I worked as a Project associate in a project entitled “Environmental evaluation of a public building with respect to indoor air quality” sponsored by Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), India. The project fund was Rs. 7,00,000 (Euro 12,500). The projects main objectives were to investigate existing indoor air quality and ventilation effectiveness. I was responsible for purchase of suitable instruments, performing onsite monitoring and analysis of test samples. I build up plenty of experiences to perform experiments in field, confidence to manage a project and improved communication skills. This project was a stepping stone in the field of indoor air quality in centrally air conditioned buildings in India and resulted in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities for indoor air quality measurements. The project completed successfully on dated 30th July 2001. I had also been involved in consultancy works with IIT Delhi, in the field of air quality management.

In november 2001, I arrived in France for pursuing Ph.D. at Ecole des Mines de Nantes in fluid mechanics that helped me to diversify my domain of research experiences. For 6 months, I worked on a industrial project to characterize effective industrial duct ventilation system for a food industry. The submitted Ph.D. research work is entitled “experimental analysis of the dynamical behavior and effectiveness of air curtains designed for cellular confining”. My stay in France not only continuously developed and provided diversified research experiences but also served multilayered opportunities, to successfully merge in a different culture, acquired intercultural knowledge, and additionally made possible to learn french language.

I am willing to offer my extended language skills as well as my ability to get easiliy used to new environemnt to my future employer. Furthermore, I am highly motivated to work on different projects as I am ambitious to learn more every day. Aditionally, I learned the values of teamwork and commitment as well as working hard and focus on given goals. My ability to structure my time and fit my activities into my schedule helped me to complete given projects succesfully. Given my professional qualifications, experiences, and relevant research projects successfully conducted, I strongly feel motivated to further contribute my bit in the domain of research and development.
