‘‘ Youth is newness, a young person at the age of seven will feel excitement, a young person the age of ten will feel energy and optimism, the feeling of being 16 is suppose to be independence and curiosity, but in today’s society its replaced by trying to look fashionable and doing drugs’’ – A tale of mere existence. An issue of importance to me, and most teenagers around this the nation is ‘‘ teenage ignorance’’. I feel as if every year I get older the generations beneath me gets stuboner, which makes them stupider. We all see out of a different window, but if we could learn how see out of every ones window our society wouldn’t be so ignorant and cruel. The result of mainstream music, the media, and influence has a huge effect on teenagers. In my opinion I think it has a huge negative effect on teenagers.
Most of us can agree that Hip-hop is by far the majority of mainstream music. The definition of Hip-hop is a form of musical expression and artistic culture that originated in
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/African-Americann and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latino communities during the 1970s. Hip- Hop is a form of expression that has relevance to our society. Hip-Hop these days have changed completely from what it started out has. Consider, For example, the artist Lil Wayne most teens may enjoy his songs but why? The majority of his songs are mainly about wealth, degrading women, and drugs. His music has no meaning and is completely pointless, but yet we still find it catchy. Music like this influences teens my age to rebel against education and morals.
Media, I think is probably the number one thing in this world that can change how a society can think. The influence media has is tremendous, these days. We don’t really notice it, but almost everywhere we go we see media. I think the more teens are connected to the media the more unattached they are to the real world. Last year in my English class my teacher asked to raise your hand if you know what’s going on in Egypt and about five may be six people raised their hands. They couldn’t care less about what’s happening in the war, but they couldn’t care more about what’s happening in the jersey shore.
Influence, peer pressure, fitting in, these are a teenagers kryptonite. Nearly every teenager gets peer pressured into trying to do something they really don’t want to do. Its called influence, a powerful thing, where you just want to fit in.
Ignorance is being uniformed about or having lack of knowledge. These days I think ignorance is an epidemic that’s spreading all over teens around the nation.
