I have to write about the theme of alienation in Metamorphosis

Metamorphosis

The key theme of metamorphosis is man’s alienation. The story is about a man named Gregor who abhors his job because his co-workers loathe him and his boss does not treat him like a human being. Unfortunately, he does not have the courage to go out and find another job. Gregor accepts the miserable at work. This leaves to his family to love him but one morning Gregor wakes up to find himself transformed into a bug. After Gregor's transformation into a bug, his entire family rejects him. Upon seeing the bug, Gregor's boss runs away. Gregor’s father forces him back into his room with a walking stick. Gregor’s mother faints at the sight of him. These hurt him physically and mentally.
None of the members in Gregor family think about how miserable he feels about his transformation but instead they are worried about the affects of the metamorphosis on them personally because Gregor is the sole source incomes of the family. Transformed into a bug, Gregor can observe his family from a different perspective. To add to his sense of alienation, Gregor must stand by and watch what is happening to the family in silence. He is powerless to speak, complain, or criticize.
The author is portraying the level to which a human being can be decreased in the modern world. It also symbolizes to what depths a man sometimes sinks before he begins to reflect on the meaning of his existence. Ironically, only as an insect can Gregor finds the time to reflect on his own misery, to acknowledge his own desire, and to see the selfishness of his family.

Gregor’s mother faints at the sight of him. These *respulsive feelings hurt him physically and mentally.

Here are some aspects of the story you may want to consider.

Gregor's sister is sympathetic at the beginning of the story, and
provides him with food etc. (An interesting aspect of the tale is
Gregor's tact - for instance he hides when she brings him
food, so she won't be upset by his appearance.) So you may need
to distinguish between the responses of the various family members.

Note the opening paragraph: 'he lay on his hard, tank-like back': you
may want to bring out the significance of G's 'carapace', if you're
talking about 'alienation'. You haven't quite covered the fact
that Gregor is a 'beetle', with all that that signifies.

The incident where G's father pelts him with apples is also noteworthy, in
your context. G. has been the family's sole provider: his fatal wound
(the apple in his back) is caused by the very food he has provided.

Look out too for the episode where G. hears the violin and entertains
sentimental thoughts of reconciliation with his family. 'Was he indeed
an animal, if music could touch him?'

Have you read Vladimir Nabokov's essay on Metamorphosis? Well worth hunting
down. One quote: 'Gregor is a human being in an insect's disguise. His family
are insects disguised as people.' (I don't quite agree; but this quote
may be useful to you.)

to acknowledge his own desire] What would be Gregor's 'desire'? Are you able to be more specific?

There are two aspects of your essay that puzzle me slightly: (1) the emphasis you place on Gregor's job and colleagues - I'm not sure the text supports this interpretation; (2) the absence of comment on Gregor's death. Take a look at the closing scene, where the family, relieved of the burden, suddenly feel high-spirited again. What are we to make of that? Is it some kind of metamorphosis for the family members as well?

This sentence is spot on: 'He is powerless to speak, complain, or criticize.' Kafka makes a great deal of Gregor's lack of a voice. Why not do the same? It suits your theme.
