Need Correction. Arthur's new job

Hi teachers,Could you correct this paragraph please?Arthur came home one day in 1981 and said, “I found a better job today,”.“Finally!” Joan said. “How many hours do you have to work? How much do you earn?” she asked. “£460 a month for 40 hours a week,” he said. Joan had another baby that year and he bought another house.Thanks in advance

The grammar is OK. I have some concerns about the meaning and the naturalness.

Instead of 'I found', I suggest 'I got'. 'Found' implies to me that he may still be in the process of applying.

Since he hasn't started yet, I would put Joan's questions in Simple Future. 'Make' is more idiomatic than 'earn'.

The last sentence seems like a very abrupt change of focus to what comes earlier in the paragraph.

I would say 'they bought' instead of 'he bought'.

The sentence must be, 'How much will you make?' Instead of 'How much do you earn?'
