Need clarification about redundancies: "...aid to help..."

As the information is gained, it will aid to help society rethink.

Question: Wouldn't "aid to help" be redundant in this sentence?

I was told that “to help society rethink” acts as an infinitive phrase functioning as an adverb, modifying the verb phrase “will aid”, and that it answers the question “How?”.

I was wondering if I could get more thoughts on this?
