Need clairifcation in "Will lighten up"...

Hi teachers,

Do you think this is grammartically correct if I say

"This new lamp will lighten up the room " .

So, can we use "will lighten up" in a sentence or "will light up"?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Regards,

Anonymous "will lighten up" ... or "will light up"? "will lighten up the room" suggests to me that the lamp may be colorful or cheery looking or that the lamp shade is of light color compared to the lamp which was there before.
