Dave PhillipsI'm terribly sorry for..........That sounds like the beginning of either an abject apology or very polite refusal. I certainly wouldn't call it an emphatic rejection or denial.
An emphatic denial: I did nothing of the sort! How dare you accuse me!
An emphatic rejection: Get out of my sight!
