Need advice on adding "the" before "most", thx sooo much!

Dear all,

I wonder if you need to add "the" before the word "most" as in:

What animal do you like the most? OR
What animal do you like most?

Please advise which one is correct.
Thx soooooo much in advance.

Since most is not an adjective in your sentences, it's optional. In other words, both sentences are correct. You could also say: What animal do you like [the] best?
