Need advice on 2nd conditional sentence, thx sooooo much!

Dear all,

May I know which reason with the right structure goes well with the main clause? Thx soooo much!

If my dad worked away from home, I would miss him a lot because:

A. I would not be able to see him as often as I could.
B. I can't see him as often as I can.
C. I couldn't see him as often as I could.

To me, A is the best, but I don't like the end of it. I would suggest this as a possible solution: - I would not be able to see him as often as I do now.

  • To me, A is the best, but I don't like the end of it.

adviseeker I couldn't see him as often as I could.
You have a contradiction here. Maybe you need to rethink this. (It's also a problem in choice A.)
Are you trying to say "I wouldn't be able to see him as often as I wanted (to)"?
(B is impossible.)

Hi, Is B is impossible since the second conditional is present in context but past in form??

Hi Anon

B doesn't work for two reasons:
1) The use of "can't" is not an appropriate form for your second conditional sentence.
2) The clause "I can't see him as often as I can" doesn't make any sense to me.

The second reason applies to your other options as well:
adviseekerA. I would not be able to see him as often as I could.
B. I can't
