Need a phrase or word

Hi.

I am looking for a word which describes the effect of drinking something hot.

In my language we use the word burn in the following context, I wonder if it sounds correct in English too.

Ex. Oh, god damn it, I burned my tongue, that milk was too hot.

Any similar word or phrase would be highly appreciated

We commonly say "I burned my tongue."

Please note that "*** **** it" is considered offense by many, in a way that "dammit!" is not, but there are still some offended by "****" in any form. I object to the first, but not really the second.
