Need a help to improve my writing

In 2018, I was a new postdoc in xxx. With strong skills in optimization, Prof. nnnn invited me to open an optimization training course in my lab for master and Ph.D. students. This was the first time I stood in front of graduate students without any support from others. I prepared a course with five chapters that covered basic skills in convex optimization such as how to form a convex problem and how to solve a convex problem. However, I did not go directly to this theory which is very hard and difficult to study. Instead, I started from a simple problem that they studied in a high school. I was inspired by many practical examples from the textbook of professor Mung Chiang, "Networked Life: 20 Questions and Answers". I guided them from examples to technical analysis by convex optimization methods. By that way, I recognized that all members understood lectures rapidly and were able to apply them to their research problems. As strong evidence, many members in my group have got publications in high ranking conferences and journals such as IEEE GLOBECOM, ICC, IEEE TNSM.

Although this is not an official training course, it is extremely helpful for me to gain my experience in teaching as well as building a research team work. It can be seen as the first success for me in teaching to continue and contribute to the academic work.
