Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to apply for the Master’s programme in “International and Development Economics” at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin for the summer term 2012.
My education background as well as my work experience are listed and enclosed in my curriculum vitae. Therefore in this letter I will mainly focus on my commitment for development sector and on my genuine personal motivation for this area.
I always have been ambitious and I also was keen to seek for new challenges. Therefore, by age of 19 I decided to leave my home country and study abroad. In 2009 I gained Bachelor of Science degree in Business Studies from the University of Hamburg. Due to various lectures and seminars at the university I got the opportunity to explore various aspects of the business studies and to improve my understanding of principal theories in business world.
During my studies I got involved with two NGO’s an international student organization AIESEC and German NGO named “Internationale Jugendgemeinschaftdienste" (IJGD). Also in my last internship at the "name" company I worked closely with NGO’s and other non-profit charities. This experience gave me, apart from personal improvement in project management among others, satisfaction and an opportunity to make a different in surrounded me community. Moreover, I realized what I career I want to seek in the future.
I share the opinion that the role of development sector as well as the need of economic tools and strategies for developing countries will continuous increase as the global prospect not just in third but also in developed countries does not look optimistic. I would like to take an active role in the improvement of sustainable economic development in poor countries, analyzes and understand the global issues and try to define necessary support for them.
I am also aware that engagement to deployment in the developing countries requires proper higher education as well as excellent knowledge in the field of international development economic is mandatory. I believe that the Master’s programme in “International and Development Economics” is very appealing to me as it provides a solid framework in economic and political topics concerning developing countries as well as provide better understanding of causes of inequality between rich and poor countries. Moreover, this course educates young people, broads their knowledge and prepares them for a challenging career. Therefore, I am convenient that this master course will allow me to accomplish my personal goal and would let me enter a career in international development field.
An additional asset of the programme persuaded me to apply for this course. The small number of participants representing a wide variety of their academic and cultural background. The diversity will already enable students flow and exchange of political, economic and historical opinions coming from all over the world. These make this course global and personally very interesting for me as I enjoy working and being in multinational environment.
Currently I am preparing myself for a four months internship at NGO “name” located in Bangalore where I will have the opportunity to gain valuable and unique experiences in non-governmental institution and a chance to improve my interpersonal skills.
With a solid academic background in business studies combined with management experience in and with NGO and strong personal motivation I deeply hope that I would enter the Master’s Course in “International Development Management”. Furthermore I am also confident that I will have the aspiration, knowledge and skills to seek for a career in field of international development in developing country.
I appreciate your interest and I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
