Hello,I need a bit help with English. I have to do homework but I do not understand exactly these questions. May be here is someone who can help me and describe what exactly these questions mean. I understand all these words alone but together in sentence I don´t understand their meaning. Obviously, from your class you should already know things like 'cash', 'accounts receivable', 'audit', 'confirmation', 'balance', and 'standards'. From a dictionary you should be able to handle 'requirement', 'control', 'assessment', 'document' and similar words. So I'm not sure what else you need.

This is how I understand it (with only very rudimentary knowledge of accounting):

1. You are to do research on auditing specifications, specifically, those auditing specifications that apply to the use of confirmations (from outside sources) when auditing. Based on this research, write an explanation of the requirements in the specifications relating to the maintaining of control of the confirmation process when auditing.

2. Use this explanation in 1. to evaluate the Satyam auditors' use of confirmation (from outside sources) in their audit, as it relates to cash and accounts receivable. Was Satyam's approach to confirmation here deficient, according to the specifications?

3. Do the auditing specifications require the use of confirmations (from outside sources) when auditing cash balances and accounts receivable balances? Was what Satyam did, in regard to confirmations, correct according to the specifications?

4. When auditing cash and accounts receivable balances, Satyam attemped to get confirmation of these balances from outside sources. Was this correct according to the specifications? If Satyam's use of confirmations here was correct, what aspect of cash and accounts receivable balances in the audit would be most relevant to the use confirmations, according to the specifications?

CalifJim: Thank you for your answer. Actually I do not study accounting in English. And this was first time if we had to understand cases in English in this lecture and also had to know accounting terms in English. I understood all these words alone, but not if they were together in sentence. I know it is weird

But my English is not very good.
