Necessary part for a scooter?

- My electric scooter still have not yet repaired.
He said that since the necessary part has not yet arrived into his shop, I have to wait more.

I talked to my wife like the above. I felt it a little weird. Especially for "part". Do I have to use "component"? Is the term "part" okay?
