Ah. OK. I see what you mean. Now that you mention it, it is confusing.

I think that all we can say is that not everything you see in print is necessarily going to be written perfectly. People sometimes don't proofread as care

In the latter case, why haven't you asked the author to clear up your confusion? He or she could certainly explain it better than we forum members might do. After all, he wrote it!
