Vocabulary

Nearly or Almost

Hi.

Please look at these sentences and then tell me which one is correct, please.

1. I'm nearly 19 years old.

2. I'm almost 19 years old.

Maybe neatly and almost are not in a suitable place in the senteces, I don't know. If so, please correct them for me.

Thanks.

Thank you Clive for you asnwer. Please just take a look at these sentences also, and tell me which one is correct.

1. I nearly know him.

2. I almost know him.

I feel that the sentece number 2 is more better than number 1. Maybe both are correct but I feel that the number 2 is more nice than number 1.

Thanks once agian.

Jeff.

Well, maybe I use the wrong words for expressing what I want to say.

I will tell you. It's right that I know someone but I don't know all things about him. Do you get?

For example, I know you. You are a teacher in Englishforum.com but I don't know who you are exactly. So anyone ask me about you, I will tell hime I only know you as a teacher in Englishforum.com. So when I translat

Perhaps the words you are looking for are either " barely" or "hardly".

I barely know him.

We met online and I know that he is an expert in the field, but other than that I barely know him.

I hardly know him.

I saw him on TV and we met once in passing at a cocktail party, but I didn' get to say two words to him. I hardly know him.

Hope this helps.
