nearly and almost

0Hi everyone !02br
02br
00look i know that this subject has already been brought up.02br
02br
00But my book says that almost and nearly are not the same. the problem is that in french, theres only one word to translate it : presque.02br
02br
00For example my book says:02br
02br
00It's nearly midnight = we're just giving the hour and precising that its close to 0 : 0002br
02br
00it's almost midinigt = it means something s going to happn at midnight, we're expecting something.02br
02br
00I just would like to get the hang of their utilisation with ease. Do you know guys any other good exmples that differantiate the two expressions ?02br
02br
00Cheers0-

01b00Nearly02b00 means close in proximity and 01b00almost02b00 means being so close. In most cases, [nearly] and [almost] do have a similar meaning, but not always. It really depends on the context. i.e.02br
