Near/around

What’s the difference: I live near/around the city.

Top answer

eslbro difference 'around' doesn't sound right. It suggests that you live in various areas surrounding the city, as if you change where you live from time to time. In another interpretation it suggests that you live somewhere in the general vicinity of the city, but 'near' is much better for that meaning.
