Native speakers, please, help!

Is it correct to say:
1) he has worked with us for only a month but proved that he is a skillful worker.
2) he has been our coach since I started playing for the team.
3) the conductor has not come out yet but the bandsmen have already taken their places and are tuning their instruments.
4) he finished the first chapter of his dissertation and is writing the second one.
Something is definitely wrong here but I can't really get the idea of all the tenses. Thanks in advance!
