Native place

In China, the native palce may refer to the hometown of one's father, for it is often the case that the whole family has moved to another place within the country. Does it have the same meaning for people in English-speaking countries? What is the difference between nattive place and hometown?

I do not use the phrase "native place."

My hometown = where I was born and grew up as a child.
My birthplace = where I was born.
My native country = the country where I was born (as a citizen)

About hometown, I would like to complement another meaning in Chinese culture in which sometimes it means ancestral home and it may or may not be the place where one is born.
