"My father, a bonvivant Scotsman native of Edinburgh, was a naval engineer."

Is "Native of" correctly" used in this sentence? Can we say "my father, who is native of Edinburgh" or should we say "who is a native of Edinburgh"?

Is it possible to use native of as an adjective? What about "native to"?

Thanks for your help!
