National spelling bee

I've been watching and I 've yet to see them present a word of English /Anglo-Saxon origin.
Is there some rule forcing them to use obscure foreign words co-opted in the language.

[nq:1]I've been watching and I 've yet to see them present a word of English /Anglo-Saxon origin. [/nq] I recorded it, so no spoilers, please. If someone dies, don't tell me who did it.

BTW, good spelling is a contra-indication of intelligence. The subject
