National literature or foreign literature - IELTS Writing Task 2

Question: Many people believe that it is more important to teach children the literature of their own country than other countries. Do you agree or disagree?

Essay:

Many people argue that their own national literature should play a greater important role than foreign literature in education. In my opinion, I completely disagree with this view because both of them is necessary for children development.

On the one hand, teaching national literature for children gain a number of advantages. Firstly, the literature of own country assist children in development the capability of using mother languages. Thanks to absorb the linguistic knowledge including vocabulary, grammar and the way to present ideals, students get benifits from literary works for studying and communication. Secondly, children will understand deeply about the tradition and culture of own country via literature. For example, there are many stories and legends written according to real heroes and hostorical events in the past, which partly lead to the incentive for the patriotic spirit of children.

On the other hand, there are many benifits from educating foreign literature for students. First of all, students have the opportunities to accumulate a wide understanding about human and culture of the other nations. This might strongly impact on their awareness about the variation and vastness of the world and result in improving their spirit of learing. Furthermore, due to the suply the large amount of international culture information from foreign literature, students are able to adapt with other living environments and ready for globalisation trend.

In conclusion, for the advantages I have mentiond above, I believe that both national and internatioal literature should be applied popularly in school's curriculum that helps students develop comprehensively.
