Vocabulary

Nasty nip.

Hello there,

How are you doing? I have some questions about vocabulary.

- I'm sorry that the parrot is squawking its head off.( I know the verb "squawk", but i don't clearly understand its meaning here.)
- Oh no, because it's more than likely to give me a nasty nip if I do.

Thanks.

There are many exaggerations to express the intensity of an action that is so strong that the body part producing the action is destroyed in the process:

crying her eyes/heart out.
screaming/yelling their heads off
screaming at the top of their lungs
singing her heart out
