narrower squeak

What's "narrower squeak" means? Thanks.

Goodness knows. It's almost impossible to give meanings for just one or two words out of context. At least give us the whole sentence, if not the surrounding sentences, to give us a chance.

HI,

More context, please. For example, what does 'the same excitement' refer to? What comes before this sentence? Had they just met a dragon? Did they find a burglar in their house? Did John just become Prime Minister? Did Michael almost win a Nobel Prize? Did he get a great mark for his homework?

Best wishes, Clive

It could be paraphrased something like this:
".... and there was even more tension concerning Michael who only just managed to escape/avoid getting into serious trouble."
