Narrow world

An English teacher says (Yes, the same one) that native speakers won't use "the world is narrow" nor "narrow world" when they think/feel "it is a small world."

Is it true?

I think even Shakespear used "narrow world" in his work...

I made some web research again and found out that "narrow world" is usually used when the space or realm is limited like a box and that Shakespeare wrote about the time when people didn't know the world is round.
