Hello,
I'm quite confused as to what is the proper ( correct ) way to list the disciplines in this bit of text:
The curriculum of the Academic Law Institute was created on the basis of the State Educational Standards. It involves studying of the following disciplines: philosophy, economic theory, foreign language (students' choice), Latin language, logic, political science, sociology, history of Russia, ethics, religious studies, the basics of computer science and computer engineering, theory of state and law, history of state and law of Russia...
I'd like some help concerning the names of these disciplines, which articles to put along with them (I still find it hard to understand where an article is needed) and if I should write them in capital letters (like ...following disciplines: Philosophy, Economic Theory, Foreign Language e.t.c..)
Thanks for the help in advance,
D.
The quoted text is a fine example of correct modern English in respect of capitalisation and use of articles. c. That should be etc , only followed by a full stop/period when it ends a sentence (except in AE, which usually prefers a period after abbreviations like etc whenever it appears).
