Name Question. Need help.

Hi teachers,

What was the name of the inspector?

a) It was Felix.

b) Felix was (the name of the inspector)

Are both right? I guess only a) is correct, but why not the other one?

Thanks in advance

Top answer

I would probably answer a little differently. Felix was his name. OR His name was Felix.

Thinking Spainall the above, right?
If the question has "was", the form in b) should be: It was Felix.

If you change that one thing, then yes, all of them are right.

Thinking SpainWho did Adam work on important jobs with?
This is borderline acceptable but awkward. "work with" is almost an inseparable unit, so "with" should be placed together with "work":

Who did Adam work with on important jobs?

Well, that's how I would do it, anyway.

I think it can't be "b)" as it's not a full statement. But I'm just a beginner, so I really can be wrong.

If that's how you'll do it CJ. I'll do it too. I'm sure you know a lot more than me. [A]
