or

I see, so this means Gravere can be pronounced both ways? I thought there had to have been some sort of rule that pronounced "ere" in a specific way.

"Menzies" is pronounced MING-iss. "St John" is pronounced SIN-jin. There are no rules at all for spelling and pronouncing names. Yours might be GRAVE-er, grah-VEER or grah-VAY-ray or anything else.
