name of the discipline

i would really like to learn to take sentences into parts and give names to each particle.

where can i find the answers to the following questions?
what kind of clauses there are, what does antecedent mean, what is the difference between a coordinator and a conjunction word, and so on.

my problem is that i do not know where is 'square one'.

probably, if any of you could just name the discipline that deals with such problems, would help me to work up a head of steam.

thank you.
