Steven, it's "brand name" in some contexts, but "name brand" is also used. "I'd rather use a name-brand product than the store-brand product" is common usage, meaning you prefer a well-known brand. You don't necessary prefer Skippy to Jiff to Peter Pan for your peanut butter, but you prefer one of those to the generic store version, for example.
