In recent times, the choice to work or travel during the gap year have been a controversial topic. Some believe the experience of working is worthwhile than traveling to which I disagree and this shall be explained in the forthcoming paragraphs. The first reason is that traveling broadens the mind, it expose young people to a new world of culture where they learn how to communicate, tolerate and respect other humans of diferent races whenever they come in contact with them. In addition, touring different cities help some students to discover themselves, their style as well as improve their mental health and prepare their mindset for the new academic year. Furthermore, Hans Christian once said "To travel is to live". Many students might never get the chance to travel again because of the busy academic years ahead. Moreover, adulthood sets in while in the university, being an adults ushers in unending responsibilities that might impede the chance to see the world hence the need to take advantage of the period between leaving school and going to the university to tour around.Nevertheless, the knowledge gained while working cannot be overlooked because it is equally important. However, students can also gain working experience during their university while working as an intern, therefore, this shouldn't deter them from making the brilliant choice of traveling. At the end, choosing to travel over working is a win-win situation as whatever knowledge that was lost could be gain while at the university.
In conclusion, both experiences is useful but traveling to different cities or continents brings in a wealth of knowledge that working during the gap year can never provide.
