My wish never came true

Hi

Could you please tell me if this dialogue is natural? Any suggestions are welcome. (I am not terribly happy about the bold sentence.)

A- My wish never came true.

B- What wish?

A- I wished for the municipality to arrive and do away with all these encroachments.

Thanks,

Tom

PS: Can we say 'My wish never materialized?'

Thanks, MM.

Municipality is the department in our country responsible for clearing encroachments. The speaker wants the department to clear away/abolish/do away with the encroachments. Is the dialogue natural, MM?
