My boyfriend Stacy and I had been together almost six months. I went to visit him in
Murfreesboro, Tennessee for about two weeks. It was Tuesday, about time for me to return home,
when we decided Stacy should come home with me, and visit my family for the first time. As we
traveled over five hundred miles home, I received a call for my mom. We were talking, I was
being silly and joking with her, told her Stacy was coming home with me, and we were getting
married the following weekend. Needless to say the joke was actually reality. A long distance
relationship was hard on us, and we could not be apart any longer. It was Tuesday, I was getting
married Saturday. Marrying Stacy was one of my greatest joys in life.
It was about midnight when we finally reached our destination, home. My family greeted
us at the door with open arms. My parents sat us down and talked to us about our future, trying to
get us to move our wedding to a later date. We told them how much we loved each other and
wanted to start our lives together, now. They we happy for us and started helping us plan a
wedding. With a wedding fastly approaching, we had a lot to do. Wednesday morning my family
and I were on the phone trying to find a place to have a wedding, in such short notice every place
we tried was booked. We finally found a little place in Brewster, Ohio to have our wedding. The Red
Lantern. Upon entering the building, we were overwhelmed at the beauty. It was such a beautiful,
country setting. Stacy and I knew the Red Lantern would be a perfect place to begin the rest of our
lives together.
My mother, sisters and I did not know when we were going to get everything that needed to
be done, done. We had nothing accomplished and the wedding was in three days. We had so
much to do. We had to get my dress, bridesmaid dresses, rent tuxedos, buy food, prepare food,
buy flowers, make flowers, and call and invite the guest. Wednesday night my mom, sisters, and I
went to David's Bridal. It seemed as if we were there for hours. It was about ten minutes before
closing, when I found the dress of my dreams. It was beautiful, white, puffy, and of course nine
hundred dollars. It fit me perfectly, it did not even have to be altered. Thursday was such a hectic
day. We were shopping from eight thirty in the morning till almost eleven that night. We got almost
everything we needed for the wedding. It was almost midnight, Thursday night and the fun was
about to begin. We were up until almost five thirty that morning, making three bouquets, seven
bountineers, and eleven corsages, one hundred and twenty five rice bags and about one hundred
and thirty gift bags filled with goodies for the guest. We were constantly thinking of things that
needed to be done. Friday was spent renting tuxedos, ordering a cake, preparing food, preparing a
honeymoon to Canada, finding a preacher to marry us, getting our marriage licenses, inviting guest
and everything else that needed to be done.
Now the day had finally came, the day I waited my whole life for, my wedding day. We were
getting at two o'clock, Saturday, November 22, 2004. We arrived at Red Lantern about ten in the
morning. By the time we finished decorating and getting everything set up, it was almost eleven
thirty. My family started showing up one by one to help us get stuff together, meanwhile the brides
party was in the woman's restroom getting ready. It was a large room, but with 6 girls it was small.
The time was flying by so quickly. I begin to think we were going to run out of time. After a couple
hours, all of the brides party was finishing their hair and make up. It was time for my to finish my
hair and put my tierra on my head. The second the tierra went upon my head, I felt like a princess.
It took six people to dress me. It was about a quarter after one and everthing was starting to come
together. About a hundred and fifteen people arrived. It was about a quarter after two, time for the
wedding to get started. My aunt started the wedding off by singing my favorite song. Jesus rock my
baby. The men walked down the isle as my mom was being escorted to her seat. About the time
she took her seat the electric went out. I was in the woman's restroom, where I had been for hours.
Come to find out there was an accident down the road, a truck hit the transformer. No one seemed
to know how long the electric would be out, so my soon to be husnband sent some out for some
batteries, so we could have music to continue on with the wedding. Needless to say I was about to
die. I was in a little room for hours and about to pee my self. I had 4 people trying to help me use
the restroom. It took my twenty minutes to try to sit on the toilet in the little stall. The wedding was
delayed for about an hour and a half. After we said our vows, walked back down the isle and the
second we kissed, the electricity came back on. My wedding was so magical, it was like a
fairytale.
Planning a wedding in four days was tough, but well worty it. My wedding was everything I had ever dreamed of. I could not have asked for anything more. I have a wonderful family who helped make my wedding day such a magical experience. Even though our wedding day was planned in four days it was such a great experience. It was a the beginning of my wonderful life with Stacy. My wedding day was one of the greatest days of my life.
