Write a 300-word descriptive essay with the title My Street in Winter.
I have always loved travelling. That is the reason why I have visited a very large number of places around the world. I have already seen the Eiffel Tower, the Statue of Liberty and even the Grea Chinese Wall, and I am only sixteen years old! However, none of the places I have ever visited are as memorable as the street where I have spend my childhood years.
Especially during winter, my street has an unique atmosphere that can not be described, that makes you feel like you are no longer in the 21th century, like you travelled back in time. As you enter the narrow, country road, you can see the modest houses behind the small, wooden fences facing the street. Each and every house is decorated for Christmass, but there are no electric lights to be seen. Instead, every window reveals small candles that warm up the souls of the tired carol singers, who go from house to house to sing traditional Christmass songs. Everything is covered up in snow. Snowflakes are slowly falling down and, when illuminated by the warm light coming from the houses' windows, look like little, shining stars.
The place I like the most from my street is my grandparents' house. It is located right next to my house, so, as a child, I could visit it whenever I wanted. It is a very small building, with a narrow, wooden veranda, only four windows and white walls. Although it is so old, it looks very welcoming.
The world certainly has a very large number of places that are worth visiting, but for me, there is no place like home.
