My Son's Teacher

Hi.

1. “He's better than me.”

2. “He's better than I.”


Which is very technically grammatically correct, and why? This is to prove (in print) that my twelve-year-old son's teacher was incorrect when she told him that me was correct.

He's better than me. He is better than I. Both are correct.

Both are correct. Than can be either a preposition or a conjunction.

The second is rather turgid. I prefer He’s better than I am.
