My siren a-screamin’

That sentence(Is it a sentence? I think so) it's from a song "Highway Patrol" and I'd like to know what's the meaning.

Does "A-screamin'", in this context, refers to a too loud siren? Loud volume.

Top answer

Yes, that's right. It implies both a loud sound and also one that is piercing (high-pitched/difficult to ignore)
